DENIZENS OF THE DEEP SEA

SCORPION FISH

Like the stonefish, the devil scorpionfish sits camouflaged as it waits to ambush passing fishes.

It delivers its venom through spines that pierce the skin of a victim and shoot the toxin into the wound.

These Asian reef dwellers aren't nearly as venomous as stonefish, and they actively warn off would-be predators by waving their dorsal fins and displaying the bright colors on the underside of their fins.  People stabbed by the spines will feel intense pain.
