DENIZENS OF THE DEEP SEA

NASSAU GROUPERS

Nassau Grouper is mostly found in the sea off the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean.    It is a rather large predator weighing about 800 pounds.

It appears to have a mild manner with men especially divers.   However, it could be harmful by being over friendly with unlucky divers, grasping their fists and forearms into its large mouth.

The danger inherent here is that its teeth, referred to as raspers are rather made to grasp prey without escape.   A trapped arm would be difficult to disengaged from its mouth.
