Skiing is a very vast sport. There are many different variation in the many different types of skiing. Each one has their own different set of equipment and different techniques. Mono ski, for example is a single board but different from the snowboard, both feet are mounted together and are pointing forward instead of to the sides, and the rider uses poles like a regular skier to help push. Then there is the big foots which are the roller blade or ice skate version of skiing. They have the same boots as skiers but the ski only goes out about an inch or two from the end of the boot making it more like a boot than an ski. And the most popular addition of skiing, snowboarding, has one board like a mono ski but the feet of the rider are mounted fore and aft across the board and is used more for tricks and extra. Now even disabled people can experiences the thrill of negotiating the slopes in many different positions. Traditional skiing is done with 2 skis and 2 polls. There are 3 types of traditional skiing: Alpine, Nordic, and Adventure. Alpine is made up of downhill skiing, the Super giant slalom and the giant slalom. Nordic skiing is basically just cross-country skiing. And Adventure skiing is a mix of the two and is usually done in the backcountry where people need to go from cross-country to downhill in 10 feet. Skiing is a vast sport and can be used it many ways.
