THE NUCLEAR CENTER

An Introduction To Nuclear Physics

Most people take nuclear physics as the study of atom. But we have decided to show you the cooler side of nuclear physics and how it can be applied to life. No equations or boring thesis, we will present to you one of the most comprehensive compiled sources of information on nuclear physics. This site will show you the terrors of nuclear devastation and the good nuclear medicine has done for us, nuclear power working for us, and we will let you be the judge of whether nuclear power is a friend or foe.

This site takes its information from many other websites and has compiled it into a easily comprehensible, vast repository of information. The list of websites can be found under the section "Resources".

Developer's Log

YEAR 2000

2nd Feb

We get our orders to begin a ThinkQuest website, and gather partners...

8th Feb

Ian and Tim pair up...we get several applications to join our group on the TQ server.

9th Feb

To difficult to find another partner from overseas... this is going to be tougher than we thought

10thFeb

Ian and Tim decide to quit hunting for an overseas partner to form a core group of specialists and project managers... Ian and Tim.

11th Feb

Fierce debate between the two guys about the topic and group name...

12th Feb

A list of group names are thrown up... Stave™, Stanzas™, Atomic Monkies™,  Nuclear Bananas™, Atomic Barf™, Godzilla, The Revengers, Bombers, Psycho-nutz™, Nuclear Psychos™, Humble Destroyers, Iron Guard, Atomic Terrorists™, Cannibals, The Cabal™, The Committee... Tim tells me he has a really cool group name, but to date he hasn't told it to me so I can't put it up here.

13th Feb

We decide on a topic. The Applications of Nuclear Physics to Peace and War...

14th Feb

We find a coach, Tim’s dad, who specializes in Nuclear Medicine...

15th Feb

We register with Thinkquest, and the waiting begins

1st Mar

The application is accepted, and our scheme goes into motion.

5th Mar

We deal with several management problems...Tim and Ian are joint leaders, but Tim is the Main Man.

10th Mar

The department of Ideas and Design goes to work.

15th Mar

They’re churning out some pretty cool stuff, but we decide to go for the techno-funk look of the much vaunted Adrenaline Vault©®™

Website Hierarchy is reeeaaaaally busy...

25th Mar

Design is working hard.

1st May

Resource Management kick-starts into action.

5th May

Research Department is online and operating (Average 2-3 hrs a day!)

7th May

Gathering of Committees shows good news... Website Hierarchy has worked out the main points and focus of the Nuclear Centre. Good job! Another piece of good news...we’ve been allowed to wholesale copy the information off some websites... as the Topic is to difficult for us to just research in the library...

8th May

The National Library proves fruitless and devoid of info about N-physics...

10th May

The Community Library proves that books are slowly becoming less informative than a good website...

12th May

50% of the information and pics and stuff have been obtained...

13th May

20% of the website is complete. Looking good!

15th May

Development slows down as Tim and Ian prepare for tests...(They’re very busy people, you know...);p
