Haaniella muelleri
Size:
Males: 6.0 cm
Females: 8.5 cm
Eggs: 8 x 5mm
Nutrition: This species will eat blackberry, acorn and beech plants. They should also eat some hazel, but I would avoid using hazel as the main feed or the insects may refuse to eat anything else and hazelnuts are often unobtainable in Winter.

To the forage plants

Development: The young hatch out of the eggs after about 6 months, and are fully grown in a further 6 months.
Habitat: Haaniella muelleri live in forests. During the day you will find them on the forest floor, hidden beneath bits of bark. To eat, they climb the trees in search of leaves.
Special features: This species lays its eggs in the ground like Heteropteryx dilatata and has the same defence techniques.
Keeping and breeding: You will need a 40cm high terrarium, with about 5cm of earth it the bottom. You should spary it often with water as the relative humidity level has to be very high. Maintain a temperature of 25°.
