Lifespan

The young insects hatch out of their eggs after three to six months. After a further three to six months, they are fully grown.
The adult females usually live for at least three months, or over a year long. The Belgien Kim D'Hulster claimed in 1990 (Brock 1990) that he had a five year old female of the species Darres verrucosus. The life expectancy of these insects is normally around two to three years, which is a ripe old age for phasmids!
In sharp contrast, the animals from the species Asceles spec. live only six months from the time they hatch.
