Puppet theater is a wonderful way to perform the play, Cleopatra's Conquest.
It is ideal for attracting a younger audience. Puppet theater is also nice for a classroom, because there are several activities that must be done to put on a puppet show, and everyone can be involved.
First, the puppets and stage must be constructed. Of course, some of these can take less time than others. A stage can be built by simply tipping over a card table or it can be built with wood and nails, painted, and even include a curtain.
The puppets also need to be made. Our puppets may be printed out, colored, and pasted on Popsicle sticks.

Another idea is to create sock puppets, which require a knee sock, glue, buttons, yarn, and other odds and ends. The different materials are glued onto the sock to create a character. After the glue has dried, a hand is placed inside the sock and the fingers make the mouth. |

A third kind of puppet is the bag puppet, which only takes a small brown paper bag placed on the hand so the fold is near the palm and the hand moves the mouth. The face simply needs to be colored on. Some students may want to create hair, facial features, and simple costumes using construction paper. | ![]() |
