CLEOPATRA VII Philopator- Cleopatra was the last to rule in her dynasty. She was born in 69 BC. She ruled from 51 to 49 BC and 48 to 30 BC. She became queen after her father, Ptolemy XII died. Following the tradition of the time, she married each of her brothers during the time she was co-ruler with that brother. After their deaths, she was co-ruler with her son, Caesarion.

Caesarion, was the child of Julius Caesar, who was assassinated when Cleopatra was in Rome. After his death, she returned to Egypt. Later, she married Mark Antony. When she and Mark Antony were defeated in battle, she feared humiliation. She committed suicide in 30 BC.

 

PTOLEMY XII Neos Dionysus- He was also called Auletes, which means, "flute player". He ruled from 80 to 58 BC and 55 to 51 BC. He married Cleopatra V, his sister He was banished from 58 to 55 BC. He died in 51 BC.

 

CLEOPATRA VI Tryphaena- She ruled from 58 to 57 BC.

 

BERENICE IV- She ruled from 57 to 55 BC.

 

ARSINOE IV- Cleopatra's sister, Arsinoe, was the only sibling of Cleopatra that never ruled in Egypt.

 

PTOLEMY XIII- He co-ruled with his sister, Cleopatra VII, from 51 to 47 BC.

 

PTOLEMY XIV- He co-ruled with his sister, Cleopatra VII, from 47 to 44 BC.

 

JULIUS CAESAR- Caesar was born in Rome, married Cornelia. his daughter, Julia married Pompey, (a famous Roman general). He waged a civil war against Pompey. He had the power to make Cleopatra queen of Egypt. When he returned to Rome, Julius Caesar refused a crown. However, rivals stabbed to him to death when he entered a senate meeting for fear he would try to gain power over Rome

 

MARK ANTONY- Antony fell in love with Cleopatra in 41 BC. In 40 BC Cleopatra gave birth to twins, Alexander Helios and Cleopatra Selene. He left her and her children to marry Octavia for political reasons. He missed Cleopatra, so he left Octavia in 37 BC and married Cleopatra. In 36 BC, Cleopatra gave birth to another of Antony 's children, Ptolemy Philadelphos. In 30 BC, Antony died in Cleopatra's arms after stabbing himself because he had heard Cleopatra had killed herself.

 

POMPEY THE GREAT- Pompey's full name is Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus. Pompey was born in Rome in 106 BC. He was killed by an adviser of Ptolemy XIII in 48 BC in Egypt. Pompey was considered one of the greatest statesmen and generals of the late Roman Republic. He was also one of the great enemies of Julius Caesar.
