There are two general types of technicians involved in heart related fields.
Research
Technician
Highly-trained
individuals, called research technicians, are assisting in performing experiments
in the lab. To become research technician you'll first need to obtain college
degree in natural science field and then search for the available positions
in a research lab near you. The research technicians are usually trained on
the job and increase their rank according to the work experience, hard-work
and proficiency. Expertise earned during these years can be helpful in getting
admission to the medical school or pursuing a graduate degree in the future.

Medical
Technician
Specialized 1-2 year programs are available to train ultrasound technicians
(sonographer), ECG, CAT or MRI technicians. These programs usually require BS/BA
and course work in biology, physics and chemistry. Specific requirements vary
with the program. After graduation medical technicians work with the medical
doctors to diagnose and monitor health of the patients.
