Job Title: Master Student
Place of work: Texas Tech Health Sciences Center - Physiology Department

TQ team: What motivated you to pursue a career in research and cardiac physiology?

Mr. Thingpen: Physiology because it's very integrative, it's not specific. It's not specifically Biochemistry or Immunology. There's a lot going on, so it's more of a big picture which is interesting to me instead of very detailed chemical reactions. I'm hoping to move on to medicine.

TQ team: So you plan to attend Med School?

Mr. Thingpen: Yes, I hope so.

TQ team: What college did you attend and what was your major?

Mr. Thingpen: I went to Lubbock Christian University and I majored in Chemistry.

TQ team: Do you think that is pretty typical of someone who are considering continuing to Med School?

Mr. Thingpen: Yea, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology are usual for people who want to go to medical school.

TQ team: What advice would you give someone who is considering getting into Physiology?

Mr. Thingpen: Keep an open mind. Study a lot. There's a... it's not possible to learn all of it. There is just so much going on in the specific areas. Choose an area that you like and try to learn as much about it as you can.

TQ team: What do you like best about your job?

Mr. Thingpen: It is absolutely not repetitive. The thing that I don't want is to have a job like a clerk or a person who does the same thing a thousand times a day. In this job there is always something new going on. In your projects something is always going wrong, there are problems which you have to solve.

TQ team: And one final question... what's your favorite movie?

Mr. Thingpen: My favorite movie... currently I'd say The Matrix, probably.
