Stress can be a positive part of our lives. It can improve our efficiency and help us achieve greater heights. However, stress can be a bad thing. A high amount of stress can cause depression and physical illness. Many people think high levels of stress can wreak chaos on our blood pressure. This cannot be proven. However, certain types of people are more susceptible to heart disease than others due to their personalities.
There are two types of personalities, type A and B. People with type A are usually more aggressive and impatient than people with type B. Type B is defined as being calmer and more easygoing. Studies show that people with type A personalities are almost two times more likely to die from an initial heart attack than type B.
If you are a type A personality, there are steps that can be taken to reduce the amount of stress in your life:
1) Create an evenly paced schedule for yourself in order to relieve you from constant pressure. Don't rush yourself or wait until the last minute to get things done.
2) Don't spend all of your time on your career. Have a personal life as well. Develop satisfying relationships with other people.
3) Exercise often, but don't take it too seriously. Enjoy yourself.
4) Find time for your hobbies (music, movies, meditation, etc.). They are a great way to relax.
