Gene expression

Gene expression is production of molecules basing on the information about their structure stored in DNA. The first stage is transcription – synthesis of RNA. On the template of DNA coding for protein mRNA is synthesized. Other types of RNA produced on the DNA matrix are among other tRNA, rRNA. Synthesis of RNA is controlled by special enzymes – three types of RNA polymerases.

Many proteins take part in gene expression by adjoining to certain DNA sequences or enzymes and influence the process during transcription as well as during translation.
