| Genghis Khan is known as one of
history's greatest warriors. His father, Yesukai, had
just slain an enemy named Temujin when his son was born.
Victorious, Yesukai named his son Temujin, later known as
Genghis Khan. When Temujin was 13 his father died. The
boy succeeded him as chief, but the fierce nomads would
not obey him because he was so young. The chief from
another tribe proclaimed himself Lord of the Mongols and
captured Genghis. Stories say, Genghis Khan was forced
into a Kang, which is a wooden yoke which held his
shoulders and wrists. During the night Khan slowly
twisted himself in order to reach above a guard and
smashed the Kang on his head. He escaped by hiding in
water up to his chin.
When he reached manhood, he and a band of followers conquered the Tartars. In 1203 he conquered the Keraits. He made their cities of mud and stone his capital. In 1206 he was named Genghis Khan. This means "greatest of rulers" and "emperor of all men." Genghis Khan then made the Yassa. The Yassa was a body of laws from various tribal codes. In 1227 Genghis Khan died and is empire passed onto his relatives.

Another tactic Khan used was using catapults to lay siege on enemy cities. The Kahn's tactics were so good that in the year 1227 his empire stretched from China to Russia, and from North Korea to the Aral Sea.||Khan and his army used many different weapons.
For example Khan used many different arrow heads. some
killed the enemy and some made noise to frighten the
enemy away. Genghis Khan had a screamer arrow that made a
whistling sound like a Vortex football which frightened
