{ Design a Ride }

Some rides at amusement parks aren't accessible to all people. Look at these pictures of a future carousel horse and a future chariot that we invented. This horse and chariot could be built and put on a present-day carousel, and the carousel would be accessible to all people.

Now you try to create a ride that is accessible to everyone. It could be from the future, or just a present-day ride. We've created a few questions to help you create the best and most accessible ride that you can.

How could your ride be more safe and enjoyable for people with special physical needs?

What could be included in a Ferris wheel, roller coaster, or carousel to assist those who are sight or hearing impaired?

How does your ride enrich the riding experience for all handicaps, including those in wheelchairs, or those with impairments, as well as those who are mentally handicapped?

Once you've created your ride, you can send it to iF. Using text, explain your ride. What does it look like? How does it work? What features make it accessible to everyone? Be sure to explain your ride well, so that everyone can understand it. Remember to leave hurtful words or discrimination out of your explanation. If you would like to send us a drawing of your ride, post it on your own website and send us the URL.

Text Explanation for Future Horse and Chariot
The future horse can be ridden as any carousel horse is ridden today. The chariot is more accessible to those in wheelchairs or those who can't ride the horse. In the chariot is a rail all the way around the inside, so that the rider can hang on to the handrails for balance and support. The front of the chariot opens down and forms a ramp that makes getting in and out of the chariot easy for those in wheelchairs. Windows on the sides let riders see out so that they can wave to people or admire the scenery. In the bottom of the chariot is a safety lock system that will hold the wheelchair in place, even if the wheelchair brake is not on. This way, the chair doesn't roll around in the chariot. This chariot is designed to be accessible, safe, and fun for everyone.
