{Teachers Guides - Monkey Business}

Preparation-
Students should gather some want ads from the local newspaper. The want ads can help by giving the students ideas of different businesses, while also demonstrating how many jobs there actually are in the community.

Have students brainstorm to see how many amusement parks they can name. This list can be used to point out how big the amusement park industry is. Then have students see if they can think of businesses that might grow out of that industry. For example, someone needs to create stuffed animals for prizes. Someone else might need to cook the food, while another needs to build the stands for the park.

On-Site-
Have students view the interview with an amusement park employee. Also be sure to have them look at the Job Search. Students may follow the links and explore to see what different kinds of jobs there are at amusement parks.

Afterwards-
Finish up this section by having students create an advertisement for ideal job at the amusement park.

An alternative is to have students create their own game booth or activity that would be suitable for a school carnival.

For those students who would like to learn more about the amusement park business, this site is excellent:
