Preparation-
Gather brochures about amusement parks, festicals, and fairs in your area, and display them on a bulletin board. Show or point out some of the great pictures of rides, food, etc. to your students.
Discussion Questions: What qualifications do you think a park photographer should have? How do they take such good photos?

On-Site-
Have students look at many of the various pictures in this section. Be sure to have them read the interview with Joe Schwartz, the photographer, and his tips. They should also visit his site to see more pictures.

There is also information on many of the amusement park snacks and their nutritional value. Have students view this material from a nutrition expert.

An interview with "the Tin Toy Man" is also included here. Have students read this interview about an antique toy collector who has some tin amusment park toys, then play the price guessing game afterwards.

Afterward-
Students should try to take pictures using the guidelines from this section. Pictures could be taken at any school activity, such as sports games, dances, or even at local festivals. See how well the pictures turned out after tips from the experts.

Have students come up with healthy alternative foods for amusement parks. You may want to have your own "healthy fair," where students bring in these snacks for a treat.

You may want to have students interview local senior citizens about favorite toys that they used to own. Have students share these interviews with the class.

An another option is to have students write an esssay about their favorite toy or a toy they would like to keep. Have students estimate how much their favorite toy will be worth in the next 20 years.
