Arctic
The Arctic fox is a small fox
that lives in the barren, treeless regions
surrounding the Arctic Ocean and on many
islands in that sea. Its long fur changes
from brown or gray in summer to pure white in
winter. Thus, the arctic fox is camouflaged
during every season and so can more easily
sneak up on its prey. The white furs are
valuable articles of commerce. The arctic fox
lives mainly on small mammals. But it also
eats birds, birds' eggs, and the remains of
animals killed by bears.
