Here are some activities your students can
do:
1) Send your student's names to Mars along with the Mars 2001 Lander. To do this visit this site: http://spacekids.hq.nasa.gov/2001 2) Read and analyze the Kennedy speech on the goal to put a man on the moon before the Soviets. Then talk about the race for space and the Red Scare. Visit this web page to get the entire text. http://www.cs.umb.edu/jfklibrary/j052561.htm 3) Help gather data for the GLOBE program, so we can learn more about the environment! http://www.globe.gov/ 4) Make a model of the solar system, almost to scale. Use wire hangers and make a mobile solar system model. Or make a model of the solar system using people, space them out according to a scale like 1 meter = 10^6 km, you may need a football field. 5) Sing-a-long! Sing the song, The Family of the Sun, to the tune of The Farmer in the Dell! (note: taken from the National Air and Space exhibit.)
