Jupiter

Jupiter_family Beyond the area of the small planets, called asteroids, is situated Jupiter- the biggest planet in the Solar System. As the other planets, consisting of gases, Jupiter has no hard surface. When we look at it even with a small telescope, we can see very clearly the moving layers of clouds. We can also see the popular Big Red Spot, which is a gigantic storm in the atmosphere of Jupiter. The day on Jupiter is very short- the planet rotates around its axis for less than a 10 Earth hours. On an orbit around Jupiter rotate 16 natural satellites. The four biggest of them can even be seen with a binoculars or a small telescope.

up

Saturn

Saturn Saturn is the second biggest planet in the Solar system. There can also be seen cloud layers on it, although this is not that easy as on Jupiter. 21 natural satellites rotate around Saturn. The biggest one is Titan, which is much bigger than the Moon.

The rings around Saturn make the planet one of the most beautiful views in the sky. These rings can even be seen with a small telescope. They consist of millions of small pieces of ice.

up

Uran

There are a lot of rings around Uran, but they are very thin and are seen with difficulty from the Earth. 15 natural satellites rotate around the planet. Only the five biggest are seen from the Earth. The rest were discovered from the spaceship Voyager in 1986. The year on Uran is very long. The planet makes a full rotation around the Sun for 84 Earth years. Besides that, its axis of rotation is very inclined. This means that this planet rotates around the Sun sideways and because of that at particular moments not only the equator , but also the poles are turned towards it. Due to that the polar areas are warmer than the equator

up

Neptun

Neptune is the furthest one of the gas planets. Its orbit is a million kilometers further situated than this of Uran and its year lasts 165 Earth years. Till the present moment we know of 2 natural satellites of Neptune. The spaceship Voyager 2 which passed by it in 1989 gave us more information about it. Pluto

The furthest situated planet in the Solar system is Pluto. It has one moon, called Harob, which is only 2 times smaller than the planet.

Pluto

The furthest situated planet in the Solar system is Pluto. It has one moon, called Harob, which is only 2 times smaller than the planet. Der entfernteste Planet des Sonnensystems ist Pluto.Er hat einen Mond, der Harob heisst und nur zweifach kleiner ist der Planet.
