15-16 December 1941....All is almost lost

We wanted to go to Penang to get a ship to escape to the fortress of Singapore but I figured out that if the Japs got the bridge it would be my head for sure, so we detoured and managed to set up a make shift camp and the bottom of Slim river. From what we heard from the telegraph, Penang had been bombed left and right and not a single ship left the port. The spirits of my men were far from good , they too became nervous wrecks twitching at every rustle in the branches. The Gurkahs soldiers were still straight- faced though sitting on the ground staring mindlessly at the rock they called a God but they proved useful in the past helping again to slow down the Japs. When the Japs attacked on the seventh they fought a hard battle I could see it in their eyes, the fire burning. They too got shot down by those yellow dogs. Kuala Lumpur was the last place we could turn to as we were low on ammunition and food but the trains had been seized and all the ammo has been striped from them. With no food and no ammo we have no hope against them. Now we landed up in Johor Jungle and covered our tracks with the remaining mines. We even managed to blow up a bridge that killed a few Japs but we could see that their numbers were to many for us to stop. Seeing that the Johor Jungle was impossible to cross, we crossed our fingers and hoped that the japs could not get over.
