THE NEED FOR CONSERVATION
As much as 90 percent of all flora and fauna on Earth are found in the tropical rainforest. Human population is dependent on the rainforest as a source of food, medicine and many other products. In fact many of the plants found in the rainforest is being use in the treatment of cancer. Who knows, treatment for AIDS could be found there!
The tropical rainforest is also a necessity for a healthy Earth, for it has the ability to support all life on this planet. They regulate the Earth climate for optimum condition for life growth and also help in the deterrent against greenhouse effect. The rainforest regulates the global rainfall, which in turn affects the climate of the planet. From photosynthesis, the rainforest is the main source of oxygen.
Yet, the rainforest is being cut at such a remarkably fast rate such that if it continues like this, all rainforest in the world will be gone by the year 2174. As much as a football size field of rainforest is being cut per second.
If the destruction still continues, the loss of the word rainforest is expected to have a disastrous and irreversible effects. There is a need to save bio diversity, because it is the earths life support, ensuring air to breathe and water to drink. It also protect us from pollution, erosion and major climatic changes. And it also a wealth of natural beauty.
