- Crude rubber is made from latex through coagulation
- Latex is poured into tanks and an equal amount of water is added
- Latex is then strained to remove dirt and bark
- Rubber particles will rise to the top of the liquid and forma a white
mass, called crude rubber
- In order to process this crude rubber it is rolled into sheets and
shred into pieces called crumb rubber
- Various ingredients are then added to plasticize it
- The rubber is then shaped into the final product
Lastly, steps are taken to vulcanize the rubber,
which gives it strength, hardness and elasticity. These steps include treating it with
heat and sulfur compounds. Sulfur helps in firming the rubber
