The rainforest contains some of the
most interesting product of nature and thus it would be a disaster if they were to be
removed. With the increasing rate of deforestation thousands of species of animals will be
left without a habitat and many more will perish. What is more saddening is that many of
this species have yet to be recorded and studied. Those without a home will be forced into
the human society and end up as pest. Theyll eventually be killed.
The vegetation in the rainforest
help to hold the topsoil together and maintain the nutrient level, through biological
cycling. Plants absorb these nutrients and they are returned when the plant or part of the
plant dies. When these vegetation covering are removed, the nutrients in the topsoil are
washed away when it rains, and this nutrient will not be replenished since there are now
no more trees. In the end the land will be barren, unsuitable for any form of plant
growth. The washing away of the top soil often floods the nearby rivers due to the
sediments that enter the channels. Flooding itself can cause the destruction of human
settlements.
As we all know, plants on the planet
help in the carbon cycle, and maintains the level of gases at a constant. With the
destruction of large areas of the rainforest, there will be lesser plants to take part in
photosynthesis and keep the carbon dioxide level at a low. The increase in carbon dioxide
in the atmosphere is the main culprit of global warming and the greenhouse effect. What
more, trees that are cut are often burnt or just left to rot. This is further release
carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and make matter worst. Global warming, which is now an
environmental issue has disastrous effect. With global warming, the entire climate of the
planet will change, bringing more natural disasters.

Forest clearance will also leave
human forest dwellers without food or shelter. They will then be forced to join the human
society which is unknown to them. Having existed in the rainforest for thousands of years,
the new environment will be hard for them to cope. They will also be prone to modern
diseases and many may die.
