ONEIDA

The Oneidas (it means "The People of the rocks") they are a tribe of Indians of America, belonging to the group linguistic irochese, once appropriated in the state of the Wisconsin, near the lake Oneida. The Oneidas had federated to the league of the Five Nations constituted by the Irochesi. Lives in long houses occupied by quite a lot families and whose ownership belongs to the women. The families have in fact it structure matrilineare. Unlike other tribes irochesi, during the war of independence the Oneidas were held to the beginning neutral but subsequently they were united to the Tuscaroras and they fought to side of the Americans against the British. Today the around 1.800 individuals survivors reside in the Reserve Oneida in the Wisconsin.
