The Miwoks (whose name means "Man") they were a tribe of Indians of America belonging to the group linguistic Penuti, appropriated between the actual city of Presno and the Sierres in the central California. They were agriculturists, fishermen and hunters, that were fed of walnut-trees, acorns and rabbits. They lived in the houses conic sorts of poles. The women used some millstone stones with many holes to draw the flour from the seeds, from the walnuts and from the acorns. Their ceremony of the mystery was the dance kuksu. The Miwoks possessed a rich mythology and before the run to the gold they were a big tribe that occupied 100 villages. Today they are practically extinct.
