The Crees, called also Knisteneau, they were a tribe of Indians of America, appartenenti to the group linguistic algonchino. This tribe had divided in two groups, the Crees of the Forests that they lived in the forests and the Crees of the Lowlands, devoted to the hunting to the buffalo. The Crees occupied a vast territory, inclusive between the Bay of Hudson and the bay of James up to the Gran Bretagna the Slaves' Lake, in Alberta. The Crees lived of hunting of fishing and of fur animals, that they took with the traps. The meat of the musky mouse was one of their principal foods. According to Deinig, that he/she lived between them around 1850, they made sacrifices to the sun, considered the Big Lord of the Life. You/they had met for her first one turned by the French Jesuits in 1640. They lost big part of their people during an epidemic of smallpox in 1776. You/they fought a lot of big battles against the Siouxes and you/they were defeated by the Blackfeets in 1870. Furnono decimated from epidemics and from the wars. Today they share with other tribes the reserves of the North Dakota, in which have confined, and they count around 70.000 individuals, that live of hunting.
