Harpy Eagle (Harpia harpyja)

The harpy eagle is recognized by its black chest, with white underside and the grey head feathers. It lives on tress such as the Brazil nut tree in the Amazon region. The harpy eagles mate every other year. Each time, 1 or 2 eaglets are born.

The harpy eagle is known to be the most powerful and majestic bird of prey in the Amazon region. It weighs approximately 4.5 kg, with a wingspan of up to 2m. Its preys range from small to large mammals such as monkeys and sloth.
