Black Skimmer (Rynchops nigra)

The black skimmer has black feathers with white face and chest. Its lower beak is black and covered with orange stripes. The upper beak is shorter than the lower one.

The black skimmer is a bird of prey. As the name suggests, it skims along the water surface and lower its lower bill into the water, scooping up the fish it is targeting. During the dry season, the skimmer dwells along the coasts.
