There are practically hundreds of different projects that one can partake in. Your options are unlimited! Here are some examples of volunteer work and service you can do for your community:

  • Recycling programs
  • Neighbourhood watch programs
  • Beach clean-ups
  • Reading to younger children
  • Helping out at homeless shelters
  • Planting plants while preserving indigenous species
  • Assisting police
  • Become a tutor or mentor in math, science, english, spanish or another academic subject
  • Walk dogs
  • Mow lawns
  • Organize a study hour
  • Help out a neighbour or a friend
  • Volunteer at a retirement center
  • Read books to children or the elderly
  • boy in airPerform a play, play an instrument, sing a song or just talk to someone in need
  • Babysit (volunteer for this!)
  • Coach a youth sports team at a local elementary, middle or high school
  • If you have a special talent teach someone
  • Help a new student get accustomed to his/her school
  • Adopt a classroom or school
  • Adopt a child
  • Donate clothing to the needy
  • Donate canned food
  • Organize a food drive
  • Collect toys
  • Put together care boxes for a needy group
  • Plant a garden
  • Do some household chores for an elderly person
  • Decorate a hospice or nursing home
  • Start a recycling program
