HUNTING

n Middle Ages the most favourite sport is hunting. Noblemen, as well as serfs like hunting, which is considered a very important moment in daily life. Rich people often keep horses only for hunting and treat them better than the servants who look after them!! Hounds are also very important and appreciated in hunting parties. Lords train them to follow animals' smell and tracks, and to find them in their dens. Often the lord become their inseparable friend and the most loved hound often follow the master, in the castle, wherever he went. Hunting is not only a sport but a source of food too, both for rich and poor people. Lords love game and venison, whereas serfs always hope to be lucky enough to eat a hare or a squirrel. However hunting in Middle Ages is rather simple because there are huge forests, populated by deer, wild boars, foxes, bears and many other animals, though some lands have already been deforested to make place for agriculture. Rich lords are creating their personal hunting grounds, where they can easily hunt what they want and go back home with a prey. If serfs are found poaching in these hunting grounds, they can be blinded or killed.
Better to keep out of there!!
