African music is an art form that is not owned nor possessed by a sole person, but is a communal property whose spiritual qualities are shared and experienced by all. It is alive today to make its mark while bringing new life to all mankind by teaching about our world that is pulsating with spiritual faces that lay bare their inner truth and reveal the threshold of human happiness.

African musicians do not seek to combine sounds in a manner pleasing to the ear. Their aim is simply to express life in all of its aspects through the medium of sound. Vocalists not only sing for pleasure and comfort, but also convey messages of hope an admonition for the young children. Thus, music is clearly an integral part of the life of every individual from the moment of his/her birth. The musical games played by children are never gratuitous; they are a form of musical training which prepares them to participate in all areas of adult activity: fishing, farming, grinding maize, and dancing.

African music is an art form that is nearly always coupled with other forms of art, such as poetry or dancing. It is one of the most revealing forms of expression of the black soul that releases cascades of spirit and life to those who open their ears and soul to its divine message.
