During the first century (Ancient Roman times) there was a man by the name of Aulus Cornelius Celsus who also described brain injuries in amazing detail, which through these studies lead to many other great discoveries of the brain. During the Renaissance there was great incline in the studies of anatomy. Leonardo Davinci was one of the reasons for this incline. He created hundreds of remarkable accurate anatomical sketches that help many other anatomists make future discoveries.

Another famous anatomist was Andre Vesalio he discovered important information about the Central Nervous System, he was later declared the Father of Anatomy. There were also many excellent Christian physicians and surgeons during this period. However the church did create a ban on the study of anatomy which might have prevented these surgeons to announce their discoveries.

Then around the 1650s John Locke designed the theory that the brain and the body were two different aspects of the same occurrence. Thus the mind needs the body in order to gain and store intelligence. Then in 1708 a French surgeon, Francis De Le Peyronie created an anatomic clinic for studying the brain. Through his discoveries he then tried proving his idea of that there were different locations in the brain to Society of Sciences.
