MI: LIBRARY: INSTRUMENTS: STRINGS: ELECTRIC GUITAR History The first experiments with electricity and the acoustic guitar were in the US, during the 1920’s and 30’s. After the electric guitar was developed, it was considered an acoustic guitar until the 1940’s.. It was at this time that Paul Bigsby, and eventually Leo Fender, developed the solid-body guitar. It was this step which left the electric guitar’s only major, noticeable, relation to its ancestor, being its appearance. Description Electric guitars are instruments of practically all modern music. From heavy metal to punk, and rock ‘n’ roll to pop. With their wide range of special effects, including the “wammy-bar” and “wah-wah” pedal, they lend themselves to music whether a disorted scream is needed, or a crystal clear melody. CommentsHey Ridwan and the site in general, Pickups are made of a permanent magnet and a coil of wire called a bobbin. The wire is coiled around the magnet. There is one of these setups for each string. (Sometimes there is just a pole for each string and they are all joined to the one pole at the bottom rather than 6 individual magnets.) The magnet produces a magnetic field and this induces a north south pole in the string.when the string is moved this changes the flux in the field of the magnet. This change of flux causes a current to flow in the coil which is attached to an amplifier through the jack of the guitar and a lead. This current is an alternating current because the string is moving back and forward as it is struck. The current flows into the amp and produces the fat music which we know as heavy metal. And not that bullshit that kyle (XXStaticX646) seems to think is music. and everyone else, give 'em a fuckin' break. If you can write a better website in your sleep then why aren't i at your site now. You can't expect one site to have massively in depth information on absolutely everything. They didn't say they could tell you how the pickups work they just said they were gonna give ya a run down on the electric guitar. The only reason you're pissed off is, you knew no more than them to begin with. Leavin out of Les Paul is a bit distasteful. If your gonna put anying on your site about bands put something about real bands like SLAYER or DEATH or at least JOE SATRIANI. The true innovators on guitar, who push the limits and produce the most amazing, creative , new , unheard of sounds with this instument.
