MAGNETO-OPTICAL (MO) DRIVES
Magneto-Optical drives may be the wave of the future. These drives, which are also known as erasable optical (EO) drives, use both a laser and an electromagnet to record information on a cartridge, the surface of which contains tiny embedded magnets. These cartridges can be written to, erased, and then written to again. Magneto-optical drives are at this point, both considerably slower and more expensive than hard drives, but both of these characteristics are changing fast.
