FLOPPY DISKS

Floppy disks generally hold less information and are slower than hard disks. They can also be removed from their disk drives. The word floppy refers to the disk itself, which is a very thin, round piece of plastic on which information is magnetically recorded. This decidedly floppy disk is enclosed inside a sturdier, unlopped plastic jacket to protect it from dust, scratches, liquid, and the oils on your fingers which can literally erase or scramble information recorded on the disk's surface.
