How does Software work?

Software is what tells the computer what to do, what to display and how or where to input data. Without software, a computer can be considered as almost "useless". First, what is really software? Software can be defined as the programs that you run on your computer, from your Operating System(Windows), to other applications like Internet Explorer, Microsoft Word, or even other games.

How is software created? Each Software on your computer is programmed using a programming language. These languages are standard(You must use certain words/tools to create a program). Programming languages include many such as C, Visual Basic, Java, or even assembly. The Operating System(Windows) reads the languages, and in turn relays what the software wants to do to the computer. The Operating System(Windows), of course, is often programmed in a much more basic language - one that a computer can read.

How does each software work? There is no true standard answer! This is because different software varies in uses and languages in which they were programmed. An Internet Browser, for example, would work simply by downloading(talking) with Internet servers and then interpreting the language in their own table of language terms and words, then converting it into readable words. A Word Processing program, on the other hand, would work by continuously taking in information from users and concentrate on changing the way text looks - it would also be able to store information to the drive. That is how some software works.
