Electric Lines of Force
Electric lines of
force indicate the direction in which a positive test charge would move
if it were placed in an electric field. The diagram on the left shows
lines of force for two positive charges that repel each other. A
positive test charge would be pushed away from both charges. The diagram
on the right shows lines of force for two unlike charges that attract
each other. A positive test charge would be pushed away from the
positive charge and toward the negative charge.
