Glaucoma, Cataracts, Dry eye, Keratoconus,
etc. These can be pretty scary terms if you don't know anything
about them.
Its God's most precious gift to
us. The worlds only and first natural camera. This camera needs
a lot of maintanance and a know how of it. Whether you're gathering
information for yourself or a family member, keeping yourself informed
is the best way to go. The more you know, the less scary terms,
procedures and treatments will be.
Its
a known fact that almost 80,000 Americans are blind from glaucoma,
and another million are at risk for vision loss because they don't
know they have it. This may be case with you or your loved ones.
(God bless nothing happens) But still you just can't be too optimistic
about it. You have to informed to your yourself and your eyes in
good shape.
Some Eye diseases can destroy
vision over time and cause you irrepairable loss of vision. Age-related
macular degeneration, glaucoma and retinitis pigmentosa call for
careful follow-up by your eyecare practitioner to prevent as much
vision loss as possible. Seeing your eyecare practitioner for regularly
scheduled visits increase your chances of early detection and treatment
of sight-stealing eye diseases, especially if you have a family
history of eye disease.
Conditions such as amblyopia
and strabismus should be carefully watched, especially in children.
These two frequently go hand-in-hand, and vision in the afflicted
eye will deteriorate or be permanently lost if either condition
is left untreated.
You'll find plenty of information
about each eye condition or disease in our comprehensive section,
such as a clear definition of what the disease is, causes of the
condition, symptoms to watch for and possible treatment avenues.
Of
course, your best source of information is your own eyecare practitioner.
Ask detailed questions during your visit, anddon't hesitate to call
back if other concerns come to mind on the way home or while discussing
with friends and family. Your doctor may also have literature available
on the eye condition or disease affecting you or a loved one. If
it's not offered, be sure to ask.
