The Sun
The sun
is actually a star which produces its own light and takes some time to travel to the
earth. Its temperature is about a few million degree celsius where nuclear fusion occurs.
This results in hydrogen being converted into helium and the whole range of
electromagnetic radiation being emitted. It is also being estimated to have a life span of
about 10000 million years.
The Rising and Setting of the Sun
The Earth rotates on its on axis and cause the sun to have
its journey daily from the east to the west. It rises in the east and sets in the west.
Each day, at different times of the day the position of the
sun gradually changes. It is highest above the horizon at noon and directly due of south
in the northern hemisphere. This also causes the fluctuations in terms of shadows formed
by when light is cast onto anything on Earth.
