TEAM # C001323
This webpage contains the hard work of many for two years, 1999 and 2000. This project started when Nanyang Junior College of Singapore started on a trial integrated project work at the first three months of 1999. Being a temperory student for Nanyang Junior College until the release of the GCE 'O' Level Examinations then, Huang Junxiang tasted his first experience of being taught by two teachers at the same time, Mr Ng Kim Teck and Mrs Teo Hwee Teng. Mrs Teo was the literature tutor while Mr Ng was the geography expertise. Their intriguing and interesting approach to teaching The English Patient with the desert as background made Huang Junxiang very much interested in doing the project well. He discussed it with his tutors and decided to present his theories using Macromedia Dreamwreaver. Thus the journey began...
Junxiang continued to stay in the college after getting his 'O' level results and Mrs Teo suggested putting the website on Thinkquest back then. However, it was already too late for registration and thus the entry have to wait for another year. During this period of time, the webpage was shown to the school and Newsteach who were very impressed with the idea of integrated curriculum. Thus for succeeding years, students have to undergo ICPW - Integrated Curriculum Project Work.
After November that year, Junxiang began to start to polish up and compile his work for the competition. He took out his tools for making the site and started to form a new team, because the old team had dispersed after the release of the 'O' level examination. He approached his friends and some accepted his invitation to join the team. Yip Wai Peng agreed to join the team either as a coach or as a student but could not be eligible for both. Soh Yong Hao was eligible and joined the team. Mrs Teo accepted the team's request to oversee operations. Only Deng Weijie had some problems clearing his eligibility but he managed to pass it. Thus we compiled a team of all Singaporeans, although we were encouraged to form one with a foreign students, largely because we couldn't find correct person elsewhere.
We started to get the project going. The team decided to add a history page, although we did not have any history background. Thus the real challenge was finding the infomation which seemed to be so alien to us. However, we managed to compile the page after many corrections to ensure that the quality of the content is of a high standard. We also got another coach Mr Kenneth Tay to aid us in our quest but we were deprived of the services of Junxiang's old IT teacher, Mr Quek, who could not take part.
This site is the collaboration of many people and many sources. Many sleepless nights were spent on refining the project time and time again and changes always seemed to be constant. The only thing that did not change was our spirit to continue and do a good job. Encouraged by each other, we managed to complete the page after more than 6 months of hard work. Although we are never satisfied with the quality of the page and have always strived for improvement, we hope that you would enjoy your few minutes to half an hour stay inside this page. This humble effort could not be put up if not for you surfers who support and patronise our site. We hope that you have learned something that is beneficial and would like to thank Nanyang Junior College for their support and laptops, our coaches who gave us invaluable advice throughout, Thinkquest for giving us this opportunity, Mr Ng Kim Teck for his desert notes, Mr Derrick Foo for his good news, all our friends who have helped us physically, mentally and spiritually and all others who have helped us in one way or another. Thank you.

Soh Yonghao is the creator of the gamebook and helps in the webpage creator tasks too. "The English Patient has truly manifested the love and hate affairs of war and I feel that anything could happen during the show because there had been many unexpected twists that occurred."
Deng Weijie is in charge of the music in the webpage. He is also the chief researcher for the project. "In the movie, life and death are so fickle that no one can predict the future and when their lives would fade away. Now I realise that we often neglect what we already have - a peaceful and fulfilling life which seems to be so elusive during war time."
Huang Junxiang is the pioneer creator of the English Patient Project. He is in charge of webpage designing and Java. "The English Patient has made me realise that learning is borderless. Even when I think that our content is sufficient, some new material will pop up and it amazes me how much we've done since 1999 til today."
