Technical Features

This web site has two versions, High Bandwidth and Low Bandwidth. The content of the two versions are exactly the same, but users may choose the option that best fit their connection speed and plugin requirements.

High Bandwidth - This version contains an interactive home page created in Flash. Upon entering the site, user's browser goes through an automatic plugin detection. Graphics and illustrations are used extensively in this version for a more enjoyable learning experience.

Low Bandwidth - This version is designed for viewers with a slower Internet connection and older browser versions. It uses a minimum amount of graphics for fast downloading time.

Flash4 - Every member of the the ChemoLab team is a Flash expert in one way or another. This technology offers web developers unlimited flexibility. As more browsers come pre-packaged with the plugin (well over 90%), it is the ideal choice for incorporating mutimedia into a web site. In ChemoLab, we have created a Flash version of the home page as well as many cool simulations.

PHP - One of the most unique feature of ChemoLab is our dynamic menu system. Users can customize the navigation system of the entire site to suite their needs. This was achieved by using PHP, a server-side scripting language. PHP is also used to integrate our database and create the online discussion forums.
