The strong political winds that had whispered words like freedom became dormant under the caterpillars of hostile tanks when all the Eastern Bloc countries, except Romania, invaded Czechoslovakia, the night between 20th and 21st August 1968. The leaders of Czechoslovakia were forced, having over 200 000 foreign soldiers on Czechoslovak soil, to pledge allegiance to communism and the other socialistic brother countries.
