First, your left leg must be elevated about 3-5 inches (8-13 cm). Next place your guitar so that it rests ontop of your left leg.

The left arm should be placed so that it is perpendicular to the ground while the hand just meets the guitar neck. The left hand should be held around the guitar so that the thumb is behind the neck of the guitar and the 4 fingers are on the fret board
