Amazonian Period

• The Amazonian period is the youngest period of the history of Mars.

• Large volcanoes were formed during this period.

• Land slides dumped millions of tons of debris into Valles Marines.

Hesperian Period

• The Hesperian period was the second billion years in the history of Mars .

• During the Hesperian period about half of the surface from the Nochian period was covered by volcanoes

• Surface left from the Hesperian period is covered with many small craters .

• The Large craters from the Hesperian period have been covered or destroyed by volcanoes
