Interview with Olympia Mayor Bob Jacobs

Here are some questions I asked the mayor of Olympia at the city hall. I hope you enjoy!


Q: If you had all of the money in the world what would be the first thing you would change for Olympia?

A: Park land on the water, because there really is not much here, or even in the state.

 

Q: What is the best part of your job?

A: Working with good people.

 

Q: What do you do in your job?

A: Talking , reading, going to meetings, being on the telephone. Also if someone calls about problems with the police or something, I straighten the problem out.

 

Q: What is the hardest part about being Mayor?

A: Telling people no.

 

Q: What are some of your big goals as mayor?

A: "To be a culture of excellence"

 

Q: Why did you choose to be the Mayor of Olympia and not the mayor of a different city?

A: You can only be mayor in the city you live in.

 

Q: How long have you been the Mayor?

A: Six years.

 

Q: How do you think you have made Olympia a better place?

A: It is hard to know, I hope that I have included as many people as possible in making decisions general.

 

Q: How long have you lived in Olympia?

A: 25 years

 

Q: What are some of the key places in Olympia you recommend that tourists go?

A: The capital, waterfront area, downtown, and the brewery.
