Some famous players have been good for a long time and others for a short time. Most of the long ones you will know. All these players have been elected into the NBA Hall of Fame.

  Wilt Chamberlain is thought to be one of the best basketball players in history. He has played for Philadelphia. He was the most valuable player of the Year 4 times, in 1960,66,67,and 68. He has earned 7 career-scoring titles and has lead his team to the NBA championships.

Kareem Abdul –Jabbar should be another familiar name. He is known for his shot the "Sky Hook". He has played in Milwaukee and Los Angeles. He has been the MVP 5 times, in 1972,74, 76, 77,and 80. He has one scoring title.

Larry Bird is a popular name in Basketball. He is a famous Boston Celtic. He has been MVP 3 times, in1984, 85, and 86. He too has lead his team to the championships.

Michael Jordan is one of the present famous players. He plays for the Chicago Bulls. He has won an amazing seven MVP awards in 1988, 91, 92, 93, 96, 97, and 98. He has lead his team to six championships. In the middle of Michael Jordan’s career he said that he was going to retire from basketball and play baseball. For a short time he played for the Birmingham Barons, the Chicago White Sox class AA minor league team. However shortly after he returned to the basketball court.

One of the most famous teams in the world is the Harlem Globetrotters.  They are a group of men who do basketball stunts.  They have toured or played in almost every country.  They do not play professionally but strictly play to entertain.  In a way the Harlem Globetrotters have helped bring the world together and enjoy the game of basketball.
