Hurricanes (typhoons in the
eastern Pacific) are natures way to get rid of access heat.
They are ranked on a scale. The
scale is the Saffir- Simson Scale. It was made by two people named Saffir and Simson.

deadliest storm to hit the United States was the Great Storm of 1900 that hit Galveston
Texas. This was a major big category 4 storm which killed over 6,000 people. The costliest
storm to hit the United Sates was hurricane Andrew in 1992. It cost over 2 billion dollars
in damage.
Here are the stages of a hurricane:
Tropical Wave: There are an average of 100
tropical waves that come of the coast of Africa.
Tropical Depression: Out of the tropical waves a
little over quarter of them become tropical depressions.
Tropical Storm: Out of the tropical depressions
about 10 of them become tropical storms.
Hurricane: Out of the tropical storms
about 6 of them become Hurricanes.
