Cheetah

It's Time To Save Our Animals...

The cheetah lives in the African Savannah. They are considered to be a greyhound of a cat. The cheetah is the fastest land animal on earth. It can run up to 50 miles per hour. They are not long distance runners, they get tired easily when they run a great distance. So in other words they are sprinters.

It's main hunting weapon is running. It will wait until it sees a weakling and chases after it, knowing it can soon overtake it. They usually hunt in groups. One thing is the males hunt with the males and the females hunt with the females. Their main food is usually small hoofed animals, like Axis deer, Blackbuck, Thompsons or Grants gazelle and wildebeests. If needed they will eat zebra and hares if needed.

The cheetahs main enemies are lions, and humans. The lions steal food that the cheetahs have hunted, and killed. The cheetahs don't have a chance to fight for it, because the lion is much stronger and it would win easily. The humans are the things that have endangered this animal. We build villages there and decrease their living space and their hunting space. We also kill it for it's spotted coat. As long as the coats are out of style, and if people would quit expanding villages, than the cheetah would have a much better chance for survival.

Interesting Fact

Because of extensive inbreeding, the cheetah has one of the lowest levels of diversity among mammals. Variation of species is so low amCheetahong cheetahs that if you replaced a tissue of one cheetah with another cheetah the body couldn't tell the difference. These low levels of diversity make the cheetah extremely vulnerable to disease and threatens it's survival.
