The piano is
today's most modern stringed instrument. Today's biggest concert grand has between
two hundred forty strings. It is nine feet in width. The concert grand has twelve thousand
pieces and weighs one thousand pounds. Pianoforte is the piano's full name. Piano means
soft, and forte means loud. They are Italian words. The piano is one of the strongest
instruments in the world. They do fall apart though! A regular piano only has about
eighty-eight keys. It both your fingers and your feet to play the piano. Most
pianos have petals which are located at
the bottom of the piano. They are used for keeping the sound without having to keep your
finger on the key. The piano has come a long way.
