Of all the people in the world, only a quarter of one percent suffer from epilepsy. Epilepsy is a non-contagious disease that makes the muscles act in other ways than normal. The attack happens when brain cells burst out electrical energy. Doctors have not discovered what causes epilepsy, and a seizure can happen at any time. The first signs of epilepsy usually occur when you are a child. There are three different types of epilespy. The kinds of this disease are; grand mal, peitit mal, and psychomotor. Grand mal is the most serious typeof epilepsy. A person would become unconscious and fall into a deep sleep. Although it usually only lasts several minutes, these people have to wear a helmet on their head in case they fall. A person with peitit epilepsy would stare with a blank look and forget their surroundings. Then they would either get up and go around the room or play with their shirts, mostly twisting their fingers around it. This can last only seconds, and it is the most ignored kind of epilepsy. Psychomotor epilepsy makes a person withdrawn from other people and strangely wanting to be alone in a room. This can last only a couple of minutes, and the person would walk out of the room and act as if nothing happened. |
